UPDATE: Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island is officially open for business! For over a century, Harrison’s Chesapeake House, an iconic hotel on Maryland’s Tilghman Island, served as a refuge for sports figures and politicians, U.S. senators, and governors from the nation's capital. Despite its storied past, the once glorious Chesapeake House fell into disrepair with the 2008 financial downturn. Now, Harrison’s Chesapeake House is completely renovated and reborn as Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island, making it a destination unto itself as the newest lifestyle resort on the Chesapeake Bay.

Debuting April 2018, Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island invites guests to a true waterfront haven set on nine acres. The bayside retreat comprises 54 newly designed guest rooms that channel a relaxed seaside cottage ambiance infused with modern style and amenities such as a new salt water swimming pool, 25 boat slips, and 3000 square feet of meeting and event space. Guests will have a choice between two dining establishments, envisioned by Chef Sean Wheaton, a seven-year alumnus of Chef José Andrés’ Think Food Group.

As a new hospitality brand seeking intriguing destinations for curious travelers, Wylder Hotels specifically chose Tilghman Island for its premier location as a gem of untouched beauty and farmland; the heart and soul of the working waterman. This incarnation of the illustrious hotel embraces its history and is built on the legacy by continuing the charter fishing expeditions with the same fleet of captains, VIP guests have come to know and love.

Equal parts relaxation and adventure, Wylder Hotel Tilghman Island offers the charm of a bayside bed and breakfast with the feel of a luxury hotel. The guest rooms boast dark navy wainscoting and warm sisal carpet reinforcing this historic property, surrounded by expansive ocean-side meadows. A clean and handsome palette of golden wood headboards, brass fixtures, and woven rattan lounge chairs, deepen the connection to a sense of place. Lush, redesigned grounds further enhance the property and emphasize the island’s locale as a natural, year-round sanctuary ideal for family vacations, romantic getaways, wanderlust weddings, and unique corporate events. In addition to charter fishing, guests will have access to explore the area on stand-up paddleboards and kayaks, and play bocce and other lawn games on the grounds.

“As we grow our portfolio of all-season escapes in unexpected destinations, we’re ecstatic to begin our story as a new hotel brand on Tilghman Island,” said John Flannigan, founder and CEO of Wylder Hotels. “We’re extremely proud to work with the community to revitalize this esteemed property while offering guests modern enhancements and an authentic experience on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.” For its first venture, Wylder Hotels partnered with Revolver New York, a full-service branding agency to transform the historical property into the Eastern Shore’s newest waterside resort.
