If the guy in the cubicle next to you is wearing a PFD today, he's not guilty of a serious fashion faux pas, nor does he mistakenly think he's working on the Titanic. He's just one of many Maryland boaters participating in
Wear Your Life Jacket To Work Day.
The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) are encouraging everyone to wear a PFD to work today as a highly visible kick-off to
National Safe Boating Week, which begins Saturday, May 18. This is the second year they're promoting the workplace PFD fashion statement.
“The simple act of wearing a lifejacket could mean the difference between life and death during a boating accident,” said NRP Superintendent Colonel George F. Johnson IV. “If we can prevent one fatality on Maryland waterways by reminding the public to wear a lifejacket, we have accomplished our goal.”
Officers will also provide free boat safety inspections from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 18 at City Dock in Downtown Annapolis. More information on boating safety in Maryland can be found
