Around 7:20 a.m. on November 12, the commercial spaceflight company Orbital ATK successfully launched its Cygnus spacecraft aboard an Antares rocket, bound for the International Space Station. The rocket launched from NASA's Wallops Island Flight Facility on Virginia's Eastern Shore. The rocket began a two-day journey to deliver more than three tons of supplies and science experiments to the International Space Station. https://youtu.be/_5uhDWAR88Y According to NASA, the spacecraft is named the SS Gene Cernan after the late astronaut who was the last man to walk on the moon. It is scheduled to arrive at its destination tomorrow, November 14. The launch was originally scheduled for Saturday, November 11 but was aborted a the last minute when a small, personal airplane illegally entered the restricted airspace. But the launch went off with only a five-minute delay on Sunday. Anyone catch the launch from the water? If so, send photos to [email protected]. Wallops Island, Virginia, is close by to popular beaches: Chincoteague, Assateague, and Ocean City.
