Mark your calendars! Powerboat races through organizations around the Bay will be kicking off this month and you won’t want to miss them. As more events are announced, we will share them here and in the PropTalk calendar.

Harford County Spring Nationals: May 3-4. 12 to 5 p.m. both days at Flying Point Park in Edgewood, MD. Racing takes place on the Bush River. Spectators are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets. Classes include: 1 Litre, 1.5 Litre Stock, 2.5 Litre Modified, 2.5 Litre Stock, 5 Litre, Grand National Hydroplane, Grand Prix Hydroplane, Jersey Speed Skiff, National Modified Hydrioplane, J Stock Hydro, Sportsman Entry, Sportsman Advance.
Cambridge Classic Powerboat Regatta: May 16-18. The oldest active powerboat race in the country! Racing takes place on Hambrooks Bay off the Choptank River in Cambridge, MD. Admission is free with a $5 a day donation for parking. Kid's Zone, food, and drinks will be available. Spectators can watch on land on bleachers at Gerry Boyle Park at Great Marsh or from their own boats on the water. The fleet will raft at Rooster Point. A no-wake zone will be established from Howell Point to the Choptank River Bridge. From 10 a.m. to 5pm both days (weather permitting), boats will be racing in these classes: H350 Hydroplanes, 2.5 Liter Hydroplanes, Formula 2500, and Jersey Speed Skiffs. The Hydroplane Racing League (HRL) will be kicking off its 2025 Season at this race and will be coordinating all race activity. The race weekend will be kicked off again this year with a concert by Tranzfusion and a chance to meet the racers on Friday night starting at 6 p.m. $10 per vehicle parking donation for the concert.
9th Annual Thunder on the Choptank: July 19-20. Two days of racing on the Choptank River! Starting at 10:30 a.m. both days. The best viewing area is right from the banks of Great Marsh Park in Cambridge, MD, which offers many spots for viewing the races. Also on-site is lots of great food and drinks to make it a fun day for the whole family. Classes include: 1 Litre, 1.5 Litre Stock, 2.5 Litre Modified, 2.5 Litre Stock, 5 Litre, Grand National Hydroplane, Grand Prix Hydroplane, Jersey Speed Skiff, National Modified Hydroplane, Sportsman Entry, Sportsman Advance, J Stock Hydro. Presented by Kent Narrows Racing.
Hampton Cup Regatta: September 27-28. Tentative race dates have been posted on the American Power Boat Association (APBA) website, but be sure to stay tuned to the race website, hamptoncupregatta.com, for an official announcement.
