When I purchased my home last year, I was lucky enough to move in across the street from a died-in-the wool boat nut who also just happens to enjoy picking hot steamed blue crabs almost as much as I do. It doesn't hurt that he and his wife also like gin, craft-brewed beers, and oysters. My other neighbors... well.
Ahem... anyway. Last week over a mess of fish tacos (e-mail
[email protected] for an awesome recipe), my neighbor said he had acquired a high-resolution photo of an old tour boat named
Miss Atlantic City and that he was having trouble finding any sort of history on the vessel or where she might be today. So we both agreed it would be a good idea to press the PropTalk fan base for answers. (You're already involved, in case you haven't figured it out.)
So, the details. The accompanying picture was taken August 30, 1959 (in Atlantic City, NJ, we're assuming). I have some pretty potent Google-fu, but I'll have to admit that online details regarding this vessel are scarce. You'll likely find eBay or Etsy listings with prints of her for sale, and maybe even an old postcard, but finding out where she is today, or in what capacity she served back then might be tough.
But challenges are good. If you know the history and whereabouts of this vessel today (even if it's a dumpster), please e-mail
gary@proptalk with what you know. The first person to correctly fill in the pieces will be rewarded with a mess of PropTalk bling including an official PropTalk hat, PropTalk Koozies to keep your brews cold, PropTalk note pads for your grocery lists, and a PropTalk T-Shirt.
