After a slow start last year with our Chesapeake Light Craft Cocktail Class racing program, Team PropTalk scored redemption this weekend at the Kent Island Yacht Club Cocktail Class Regatta by taking a first place win in the six-horsepower classic "heavy" (over 200-pound driver weight), driven by staffer Zach Ditmars. PropTalk contributing writer Charlie Iliff entered his Cocktail Class racer Toothache II into the mix (raced by Geoff Ewenson, Chaz Iliff, and Linda Burnett) and did well, despite some technicalities with ballast that resulted in a disqualification. Toothache II was finished alongside PropTalk's Molotov in our secret Glue Factory skunk works this spring. See the gallery below for some shots from the exciting races. #67 is PropTalk's Molotov in her final livery. We'll have full results and coverage of the races in the September issue of PropTalk, which will hit the docks on August 15. Big props to Charlie Iliff, Jay Collison, "Big Mike," and especially staffers Cory Deere and Zach Ditmars, who both put in lots of extra personal hours after work to get our home-built boat finished and ready to race. Great job, guys! [gallery type="square" link="file" ids="2658,2654,2652,2648,2657,2649,2650,2651,2653,2655,2656"]
