Matthew Davis and Earling Stephen Lamp, both 23, were out duck hunting on Tuesday near Sherwood Forest, north of Annapolis, when tragedy struck. Two witnesses called 911 around 10:50 a.m. after hearing a person yelling for help and seeing a man go underwater about 100 yards from shore. Maryland NRP responded immediately to the scene to begin the rescue effort. Earlier in the morning, the hunters had been joined by a third person whom they dropped off at roughly 10:30 at Smith's Marine so that he could go to work. Around noon, the third hunter saw police reports and called 911.  Coast Guard spokesperson David Marin identified the man as a brother of one of the hunters. He helped identify the two missing men. Maryland NRP stated that the 16-foot boat, decoys, waders, and more debris were found during a search of the area, but it is still too early to determine how and why the boat sank. Winds may have been a factor; they were in the area of 25-35 knots on Tuesday.
