Most boaters who spot trash in the water will circle around and do a quick MOB drill to pick it up. But sometimes, it's not that easy. The trash is too big, is submerged, or is some kind of suspicious substance draining into the water.
Now
you can report pollution with a free
Water Reporter App for iPhone and iPad (Andriod coming soon). The first time you use it, you'll be walked through four simple steps. Your location will be auto-tagged, and you'll input the type of pollution, date, and a photo. Once your report is submitted, it will be sent to the local Waterkeeper and be added to a live map on the Water Reporter website. The App was developed by the
Potomac Riverkeeper and Shenandoah Riverkeeper in conjunction with
Chesapeake Commons, but it's not just for those two rivers.
Eighteen local riverkeepers in the Chespeake are are participating. Water-related cleanup activities can also be posted.
