Photo by Gary Reich One of the advantages of being the fellow in charge of assembling PropTalk's Boatshop Reports  is being able to travel all over the Chesapeake each month in search of the latest, greatest boat building, boat repair, boat rehab, and boat renovation projects. It also gives me the opportunity to sneak in some bird watching, which sometimes is best done from a car (especially with temperatures like today's high of 28 degrees). Somewhere near Broomes Island, MD, last week, one of my favorite Bay birds landed right next to the country road on which I was traveling, giving me the opportunity to shoot a picture of it at very close range. While I understand that not everyone shares my enthusiasm for this particular bird, they are incredibly graceful flyers. The first person to e-mail [email protected] with a proper ID (taxonomic and scientific name) gets a PropTalk T-shirt. Bonus points if you can also name another bird of this type that folks often confuse with the one pictured.
