At 4:40 a.m. Thursday morning, firefighters from Anne Arundel County responded to a fire at Oak Grove Marine Center in Edgewater, where three boats were ablaze. The boats were between 30 and 42 feet, and it took 38 firefighters almost an hour to get the fire under control. Early this morning, crews and one fire boat remained on the scene at the marina to monitor the leaked oil that was still burning on the surface of the water.
The marina is located at 2800 Solomons Island Road. The boats are said to be totaled, and a chunk of the pier is also destroyed. Thankfully no injuries have been reported.
No reason is given for the cause of the fire. We send our condolences to the boat owners, because this is the last thing you ever want to see. So thankful no one was hurt.
