As a Bay boater, three stories in Sunday’s
Capital newspaper caught my attention, and each was a good read. So today I'm sharing the highlights with our Proptalk.com readers, just in case you missed them.
Chesapeake Conservancy’s
osprey cam, which went live last week, made front-page news (albeit below the fold). The live video broadcasts from a nest inhabited by a pair of osprey who have recently returned to their home at an undisclosed location on the Eastern Shore. Fans of the webcam touted the video’s high-quality resolution and sound. It's awesome when the cheep, but you might want to keep the volume low if the bossman is in earshot. Click

The Maryland General Assembly has put the
vessel excise tax cap debate to rest for the remainder of this year's session. Some, including the
Marine Trades Association of Maryland, said the cap could have helped boost boat sales in Maryland. But the bill that passed the Senate last week didn't include the language that would have created the cap. The
Maryland Department of Natural Resources opposed the cap, arguing that it would reduce revenue channeled to the
Waterway Improvement Fund.
And finally, are you ready for a
10K race over the Bay? Lace up your track shoes! A new run is coming to the Bay Bridge in the fall of 2014. The Maryland Transportation Authority has agreed to allow a private entity, Bay Bridge Run LLC, to put on a competitive race, probably using the eastbound lanes and starting at Sandy Point State Park with a finish in Queen Anne’s County.
