The Elite nine-mile crossing is only for experienced paddlers.

The Bay Bridge Paddle, presented by ABC Events, will take place June 2, 2018, launching from Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis. And they need powerboat volunteers! This event will bring together paddlers of all levels to share in a day of camaraderie and fellowship. There will be three race options depending on level of fitness and experience.

The Elite nine mile crossing will challenge racers with a high level of fitness and paddling experience. Racers with less experience or conditioning can enjoy the 5K paddle or the 1.5K recreation course closer to shore.

ABC Events is looking for volunteers with powerboats of any size, including waverunners, to help with support and safety. Support boats will provide help (if needed) to the paddlers and will communicate to safety partners: air, land, and water support provided by the U.S. Coast Guard, Anne Arundel Fire Department, Maryland DNR, and state police.

What is Expected of Support Boats?

  • Be at the support boat captain's meeting: June 1.
  • Be on-site at Sandy Point for communication check the day of the race (June 2).
  • Support the race in an assigned quadrant of the Bay.
  • Stay until the end of the race.
