Maryland’s longest running boat show is back January 28-31, and it is bigger and better than ever. There will be more than 150 exhibitors and over 300 boats right in the heart of the Inner Harbor at the Baltimore Convention Center. Whether you’re in the market for a new boat, some fishing gear, or maybe you just want to spend the afternoon in Baltimore, there is truly something for everyone, even the kids. The PropTalk staff will be at the show all weekend, so feel free to stop by and say hello! Here are some of the must-see features.
Inside Show Gates
Jump in and discover the latest in stand-up-paddleboarding (SUP) fitness at the Paddlefest Pool. Pre-register for a fitness class with
Mantra Fit, watch a demo, or take a new SUP out for a spin.

For free, professional advice on maintaining your boat or engine, step into
Fred’s Shed Interactive Learning Center. Bring your project questions to discuss, attend a seminar, or take in a demo of techniques and tools on boat and motor cutaways.
Boost your boating IQ at the
Progressive Boat School, with seminars presented daily by top-mariners from the Annapolis School of Seamanship. There will be topics on everything from “10 Steps to Becoming a Better Gilligan” (i.e. first mate) to knot tying, as well as interactive simulations on docking and line handling.
Shells will fly at the sixth annual
Crab Picking Contest Sunday at 2 p.m. in the food court. A limited number of contestants will be able to sign up on site, one hour prior to the contest start.

Back again is the ever popular
Boating Skills Virtual Trainer from the United States Power Squadron. The latest simulator features a steering wheel and a real Mercury throttle used to “drive” a center console boat on a lake with other powerboats, sailboats, navigation aids, and a marina. Training options include close quarters maneuvering, docking, and more. Instructors can adjust current, wind direction, and velocity, as well as day/night settings to vary the degree of difficulty.
The eight-time World Champion
Miss GEICO Racing Team will be back again this year with their all-new 50-foot long catamaran made of carbon/Kevlar, almost 1500 pounds lighter than her predecessor, and with a top speed of 180 mph.
And we haven’t forgotten the little ones! There will be
toy boat building in the Kids’ Cove Area located at Space C64. There will also be
pirate photo-ops Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. so be sure to stop by and snag a photo with the friendliest pirates around.
