Hart-Miller Island State Park is a 1100 acre island, accessible only by boat, in the Chesapeake Bay. By land it is close to Sparrows Point and the Essex/Middle River area of Baltimore County. The western shore of the island offers safe mooring, wading, and access to a 3,000-foot sandy beach. The park also includes Hawk Cove and Pleasure Island. Watch the drone video below, posted to Youtube by  Sam Casale Photography, for a birds-eye view of this favorite Upper Bay haunt.

Update: On May 13, 2017, the Hart Miller Island South Cell opened to the public for its second season. The South cell opens another 300 acres to the public that was previously inaccessible. The site will be staffed by DNR Rangers through Labor Day weekend and visitors can ride bicycles, observe birds and other wildlife, and hike along eight miles of trails.
