Join the Maryland Powerboat Club this Saturday at Vera's Beach Club in White Sands, MD. Like most cardboard boat races, this one is a hoot. You can find the full list of race rules here, but all boats must be built prior to the race day. So tonight is your last chance! Break out the cardboard, duck tape, paint, and maybe do a few extra push-ups before bed. All boats must be powered by canoe or kayak paddles, oars, or sheer muscle power. Check-in and inspection will begin at 3:30 p.m. and the first race will start at 5 p.m. on St. Leonard's Creek. Prizes will be awarded for fastest single person boat, fastest multi-person boat, and most creative "theme" boat. The entry fee is $25 per boat, and all proceeds will be donated to a local, young girl who was burned in a flash fire while her family fueled their boat in Solomons on the Fourth of July. If you missed that story, you can read about it here. Some of the shenanigans from the 2013 race. Photo courtesy of the Maryland Powerboat Club
