Maryland Rockfish Open - Benefiting Special Olympics Maryland
  The first annaul Maryland Rockfish Open hit the ground running on Saturday, September 27 as 48 boats and approximately 200 anglers took to the Chesapeake Bay in support of Special Olympics Maryland. The Rockfish Open weigh station and after party took place at Mike's Crab House on the South River.  With clear skys and the temperature in the high seventies, hundreds of people packed to outside decks as anglers brought their catch to the scale. Volunteers from the MSSA Essex Chapter showed up to help out and ensure the tournament aspect was a great success. Results of the Maryland Rockfish Open: Main Tournament (single fish) 1st Place: Ill Gotten Booty - 14.2 lbs, 33" - $5,000 2nd Place: The Dog House - 13.25 lbs, 32 1/2" - $2,500 3rd Place: Team Countrywide - 12.5 lbs, 32 1/2" - $1,000 Tournaments Within Tournament (TWTs)(combined 2 fish) 1st Place: Team Countrywide - 24.75 lbs - $1,462 2nd Place: Ill Gotten Booty - 24.6 lbs - $877 3rd Place:Loos Cannon - 21.35 lbs - $585
