Over the past few years, Dick Franyo, owner of the Boatyard Bar & Grill in Annapolis,  has been kind enough to open up the marketplace section of his restaurant on Tuesday nights during the winter so that fish heads could gather, tell tall fishing tales, and dream about the upcoming season while watching great fishing flicks on the big screen. Branded as "Anglers Night Out," the event featured half-price bottles of wine, Boatyard's gargantuan meatloaf platter, buck-a-shuck oysters, and the fine fellowship of fellow anglers. Unfortunately, the economy took a toll on independent fishing documentaries over the last couple of years, so when the pool of fishing videos ran dry, so did the winter gatherings. Luckily for this year, angling "obsessor" Joe Evans has found a great film to fill at least one evening of gastro-indulgence at the Boatyard. Make sure you clear your calendar on February 26 from 6 p.m. to around 9 p.m. when the Boatyard will present the fishing film "Low and Clear" in its (lower) Marketplace section. Anglers hang out at the Boatyard to enjoy fine fishing flicks. Photo by Gary Reich Show up at 6 p.m. for grub, drinks, and fishing stories; the film will start at 7 p.m. Look for half-price bottles of wine, meatloaf platter specials, and buck a shuck oysters  from the Boatyard's raw bar. If you want to get an early start on things, Franyo says he is rolling out a new happy hour in the bars  from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. featureing $3 draft beers and house wines and select $5 bar appetizers. The Boatyard is locate in Annapolis at 400 Fourth Street in Eastport. Here's what's playing (click on video above to watch trailer): During a winter fly fishing trip to Canada, two old friends, J.T. Van Zandt and Alex "Xenie" Hall, learn they've have grown apart in more ways than one.  J.T., the thoughtful even-keeled son of a songwriting legend believes there's more to fishing than catching fish.  Short-tempered Xenie, a "firewood salesman," sees it differently and fishes like it's a race against the clock.  Their different approaches to fishing and life emerge and clash on the snowy river banks and damp hotel rooms of British Columbia in this true story of a friendship stretched to the breaking point.  An exploration of life in the disappearing wilderness of the West, Low & Clear unfolds with moments of humor and pathos, success and failure, as J.T. and Xenie find themselves on a fishing trip that could be their last.
